Waterloo Accounting chances
What are my chances with an 87-89% average for the accounting and financial management program at Waterloo? Anyone received an offer already?

Repeating MHF4U for Waterloo AFM
Long story short, my advanced functions mark has sucked because of my lazy teacher who refuses to answer student questions. My mark is at 64, I've already been accepted to Brock BAcc Co op, but I'm wondering if I repeat advanced functions what will the ramifications be for the Waterloo application. If I repeat it I am aiming for 85 and I would be taking it alongside MCV4U (Calculus). What should I put on the AIF??  My other marks

97 in Accounting (BAT4M)
95 International Business (BBB4M)
96 in Economics (CIA4U)
81 English (ENG4U)

Ryerson Supplementary form OUAC 105 D

My questions is how important is the supplementary form? Does it impact my chances of getting accepted heavily?
Waterloo AFM Acceptances 2019!
Hello all potential afm candidates, and current afm students! I notice that there has not been a thread to support our cause of getting accepted in afm for next fall! Rather odd considering the fact that around this time last fall there was a HUGE thread for it! Anyways, I think we should start out with what your marks, or projected marks will be! Of course list your extra-curriculars you plan on using, and finally how you think you will score on the AFMAA assessment! Also, feel free to add in additional details you feel are just! According to SAF they will be releasing our AFMAA question on DECEMBER 3RD! That's right! This upcoming Monday! A few little details I'd like to share with everyone: So I actually am not that confident in receiving an offer to AFM! Shocking that a thread creator doubts his chances no? The reasons being that I am currently in my fifth year of high school and I am RETAKING ENGLISH! Other than that though, I am not retaking any other courses! Now for my marks: I currently have my top six set out below as follows:
English: 86(most likely will remain the same)
Functions: 80(Yes very low, however I already took it last spring)
Calculus: 82(Yes very low too, you get the sense I'm not a mathey!)
Earth and Space Science online(because there were no in class spots during this semester!): 93
Accounting: 95
Kinesiology: 95
Now the reason I do not believe that I have a solid chance of getting accepted is due to the fact that I am upgrading English! I don't have the most concrete reason that I am retaking it, I will most likely write the truth on my AIF and inform them that I was not motivated during my first semester of grade twelve last year, but now I know I have found my motivation and have set future goals for myself! Apart from that however, is my relatively low math marks! I have heard of people getting in with repeated courses, and being in possession of mid-to-high 80's as their average, so that will give me some hope! As for EC's:
I played high school senior tennis from grades 9 to twelve(and the reason I did not play this year is due to the fact that I gave up my spot on the team for another boy who never got to play because there were too many good players). I was/am the assistant coach and manager for the senior tennis team at my school. I have made it to OFFSA twice for tennis, in my grades ten and eleven years, and I have been CWOSSA champion twice in open boys doubles(ranked) for those years as well. I have also been working as a part-time tennis instructor since 2017, and have worked the entire summer running tennis camps at my tennis club. Prior to working I have also accumulated over 200 hours of volunteer work at various tennis facilities as an instructor, and I have also obtained my official "Certified Tennis Instructors" certificate. I have also attended two leadership courses each a month in length(not sure if this really means much). I think the key part about writing a solid AIF is how you can translate all the activities you've done to life lessons, and experiences, and core values that you carry with you today! Additionally, I am hoping to play for the varsity tennis team for waterloo if I am able to get accepted into AFM! I know! You must be thinking this guy won't shut up! But hey, I just want everyone to come together and share their information!

Hi guys, I am really confused on whether I should go to UTSC BBA majoring in Accounting or Ryerson BCom in Finance and Accounting to become a CPA. As both universities offer coop, have a good reputation, and are within the Greater Toronto Area, I cannot decide where to go. Please help to figure it out. I would really appreciate if anyone could reply. Thank you.

Ask a second year Rotman Commerce student anything!
As the school year is about to start, I figured I would do an AMA to help the incoming class prepare for the ass whoopin they're about to get at Rotman. Jk.. kinda. All jokes aside, ask me anything (my experience, social life, academics, etc) and I'll do my best to answer.

Bit about me:
- Going into second year
- I'm an accounting specialist
- Managed to achieve a GPA above 3.7 in my first year

Rotman Commerce
I was wondering how cut offs work and what my chances of getting into Roman is as of now. I know can bring my overall average (excluding advanced functions as it's not a pre requisite) to 92% by second semester midterms. Will they reject my application before those mid term marks as my first semester average is only a 80.5%. I know I can get a 97 in data and accounting and 90 in Calculus if I try hard enough. I kinda slacked off with AF, it's not difficult for me but it's just that I always put it to last minute to learn the material.

 English-79 (Fast tracked in summer)

Current Sem 1 Marks:
Law: 92
International Business: 91
Advanced Functions: 65

Sem 2:

Admissions
Hello Fellow yconic users!

I am in grade 12 and am concerned my average may not be strong enough for some of the top business programs. My main two university programs are Rotman Commerce and AFM at the University of Waterloo. My average will likely end between an 85-87.

What I lack in my average I certainly make up for when considering my Extra Curriculars. I currently work for the President of the Treasury Board. I also am the Assistant Business Officer at UTSC: Business Development. I have an executive role on a provincial board. I am also the VP of Finance for an event management company. I also have locked up an internship with the Director of Finance  for Ernst and Young.

I have heard from some that U of T only cares about marks when it comes to admissions.

Curious to hear your thoughts regarding my chances of getting accepted into competitive business programs.
AMA: Brock BAcc Graduate, Carleton MAcc Graduate, Big 4 Employee
My name is Neal, and I graduated from Brock's Bachelor of Accounting Co-op program in 2016 and Carleton's Master of Accounting program in 2017. I was a yconic Student Ambassador for 2016-17. Although I work full-time at PwC now, I'm still around answering questions about accounting as a career and universities.

My co-op work experience includes:
-Corporate Accounting, Henkel (Germany)
-Assurance and Tax, Collins Barrow
-Risk Assurance, Ernst and Young

I currently work at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Assurance. .

A snapshot of my time at Brock:
-Served as an executive for several clubs
-Participated in numerous internal/external case competitions and conferences
-Served as a Tutorial Leader for Brock's first-year Macroeconomics course
-Inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma (the top 10% of Goodman get invited)
-Did co-ops and internships with 3 different companies in corporate accounting, assurance, tax and risk assurance located in Germany and Canada
-Participated in a short-term exchange to France
-Volunteered for the business school's Career Services office, where I critiqued students' resumes
-Lived in residence (first-year) and off campus

A snapshot of my time at Carleton:
-President of the Sprott MAcc Society

UWaterloo AFM 3A! ASK ME ANYTHING
Hi there y'all. Its application and acceptance season again! I remember this forum really helped me a lot when I was doing apps so I thought I would post one of these. I'm currently a student at Waterloo in the AFM program. Just completed my 2nd year and am doing my second coop term before I return in winter for my 3A term.

Before all the posts about averages come in here's what I was accepted into Waterloo with when I applied and got in with in 2016:

Grade 12: 92-93 average (data management, English, calculus, advanced functions, accounting, international business, economics and organizational behavior)

Grade 11: 89 average do not remember my courses except grade 11 accounting

ECs: nothing much. Mostly focused on academics although I ran a mini side business tutoring elementary school kids math and english as well as volunteered to help tutor struggling students when they were preparing for make up exams in high school( all added up to less than 1 hour commitment a week) Also had 100+ volunteer hours accumulated over the summer from participating in a program to help international students become accustomed to toronto.

Not going to say my university of transfer.
It's from an Ontario university but it's not Toronto or Waterloo.

I've been in your position before. I really just want to help students make better decisions towards their careers so that they can one day contribute more effectively in their communities.

I'm the  OP for this post linked below. I really encourage that you take a read on that one too!

Early Acceptance Question
Currently in grade 11, taking grade 12 accounting, with grade 11 accounting completed last year. When looking at top 6 marks for early acceptance, will both of them be apart of my top 6 or can only one of them be a part of my top 6? Random question I know, but thanks for any answers.
Should I take a business or science course in post secondary?
I'm in grade 12 right now and I'm still undecided on whether i should be a business major or a science major. I really want to take accounting or finance in post secondary but I'm not good in math but I'm good in science.

I like the aspect of business when it comes on handling and investing money as well as there's more opportunities and a lot of fields to go into when it comes to business. But I also like handling chemicals and learning more on the human body.

OUAC 105D
Hi, I'm planning on applying for Ryerson's Accounting & Finance program along with business management. But I have a few questions about applying. I'm not in highschool, i have been taking a gap year to make some extra money so as a result i will be applying as a 105D applicant. if i apply in mid-september this month, what is the earliest time i can get a acceptance from Ryerson? I have all the marks i need.

My marks are:
Advanced functions: 90
Calculus & vectors: 80
English: 91
Family studies: 93
Nutrition and Health: 86
International Business: 94

My overall average is: 89

Will this enough for me to get accepted into their programs?
Also, in my top 6 the international business is a M course. will it affect my chances of getting into their programs if i have a 1 M course rather than all U courses?
Regret over chosing Ryerson?
Im a few weeks away from starting first year in September. I chose Ryerson's BTM program because of the great job prospects and the hype everyone was telling me about. However once I got an acceptance into UTSC Management, my hearts been wanting me to go there because of the prestige and because I put in hard work to get in.

However one thing that held me back from choosing UTSC was because I got into the non-co op program and was scared of the risk of switching into Co-op in second year, when I knew getting the 3.0 gpa in first year would be hard, and calculus is not my strength.

Now I lowkey feel regret/sad because my ego wants UTSC and I chose Ryerson despite all the positives about it including a higher GPA (I want to do Grad at UofT) and they have co op too.

Ryerson also has the IT part which I want to do, and i heard Uoft's IT is extremely difficult.

Any advice or comments would be nice, thankyou :)

Grade 12 wanting to go into accounting
Hello!
Yes, I am your stereotypical grade 12 seeking the advice of this internet forum. I want to focus on accounting. Preferably with a shot at co-op. I got a 91 in both grade 11 functions and accounting last year.

Any particular schools I should look into?

How Genuinely Valuable Are Extra-Curriculrs When It Comes To The AFM Program At Waterloo?
I'm in grade 11 right now and I currently don't have the best track record when it comes to extra-curricular. So far in the last 8 years these have been my extra-curriculars:

Taekwondo (~ 3 Years from gr.4-7)
Scouts Canada (1 Year gr.7)
Programming Courses Online
Volunteered at Summer Camp (40 hours, Summer 2017)
Worked at CNE (78 hours, Summer 2018)

This year I'm looking to maybe join DECA, and in the summer get a part-time job but that's about it. I'm doing quite well in school as of now (94 avg. in Grade 10, with a 97 in Grade 11 Accounting which I took in gr.10) and I was wondering how truly valuable extra-curricular are when applying to the AFM program or other Accounting programs; if I can get a 93-96 average in Grade 11/12 are extra-curricular that valuable? Thanks!
